AxissFix Air And Anoris T i-Size Child Seats With Airbag

A child seat with an airbag? There are two examples of this are the Cybex Anoris T i-Size and the Maxi-Cosi AxissFix Air. We summarize the product features and reveal the price.

CYBEX ANORIS T I-SIZE: FRONT-FACING CHILD SEAT WITH AIRBAG

The Cybex Anoris T i-Size is the first child seat front-facing that promises 50 percent more safety than the rear-facing child seats of group 1 recommended by safety experts. The progress here lies in an invisible detail that only appears in an emergency – an integrated airbag. This is mainly intended to protect the susceptible neck area of babies and small children in the event of a frontal impact. Since the neck muscles in small (very) children are not yet fully developed, advanced child seats are oriented backward.

In this way, the head and neck of the child are relieved in the event of a frontal impact and pressed against the backrest of the child seat and not thrown forward with force, as is the case with forward-facing seats. However, the Anoris T i-Size is immune to this vulnerability, although it is oriented frontally. The child’s entire upper body can roll through the impact body at the height of the middle of the body. In a collision, the integrated full-body airbag is activated within milliseconds and spreads around the child in a C-shape.

Child Seat

The airbag distributes the forces of the impact better, and the fragile neck and head are protected from possible injuries. In addition, a linear side-impact protection protects the child’s neck. The Cybex Anoris T i-Size child seat has been developed by the UN R129 / 03 standard and is suitable for children from a height of 76 centimeters.

It also grows with you up to 115 centimeters and a maximum weight of 21 kilograms. Therefore, it is ideal as a follow-up seat after the baby seat and is suitable for children from one to six years of age. The child seat is firmly anchored in the vehicle using Isofix. The airbag technology works independently by using electricity from a battery, the level of which is indicated by LED lights. The child seat has been available since the end of November 2021 for 699.95 euros (as of December 2021).

THE PRICE OF THE MAXI-COSI AXISSFIX AIR

The Maxi-Cosi AxissFix Air protects even the smallest on board with an air cushion in the event of a crash. The airbag for the child seat was developed in collaboration with the French manufacturer Helite, which specializes in mobile airbag technology. As soon as the airbag deployment system, built into the back of the child seat, detects a collision, the CO2 cartridge is deployed within 0.015 seconds.

The airbag of the child seat then fills with cold air within 0.05 seconds so that the forces acting on the child’s neck, neck, and head at the moment of impact are reduced by 55 percent, according to Maxi-Cosi. The airbag cushions the child’s head. After a second, the air then automatically escapes from the air cushions.

In addition to the airbag, the Maxi-Cosi AxissFix Air has a 360-degree rotating mechanism that makes it easier for the child to sit down and buckle up and enables both forward and backward-facing driving.

The child seat complies with the current i-Size safety guidelines (R129) and can be easily installed in the car using the Isofix attachment. It is suitable for children between 61 and 105 centimeters tall. The price for the Maxi-Cosi AxissFix Air starts at 649.90 euros (as of December 2021).
